Winter Concert

The Winter Concert is upon us! 

As a reminder-

Grades 5&6 Concert is Dec 12, 2017 1:20 PM and 6:30 PM

Grades 7&8 is Dec 14, 2917 9:15 AM and 6:30 PM

Students will need to report at 6:00 for the evening concerts and should be wearing a uniform shirt and dark pants or long skirt.

Grade 4 Band

Grade 4 band will begin this Tuesday 17-Jan.  Students must have their instruments on that day.  See you then!

Extra Rehearsal (pt 2)

Grade 7+8 Band, Percussion and Strings will have an extra rehearsal on 12/9 (Friday).  All rehearsals will be at 2:25!

Grade 5+6 Band, Percussion and Strings will have an extra rehearsal on 12/6 (Tuesday).  Band and Percussion will rehearse at 1:45, and Strings will rehearse at 2:15.

Welcome back to everyone!

We hope everyone is ready for a new year of music making.  As a reminder the PINK rental forms are due on THIS Friday (9/16)!  Make sure you get that in!  If you need a new one, see your music director ASAP!

5&6 Spring Concert is at 1:20 and 6:30 on Tuesday May 24
7&8 Spring Concert is at 1:20 and 6:30 on Thursday May 26

Band Playing Tests

Band playing tests will be done from home this year.  If you lost your instructions, find them here.  The first playing test is due next week ("Yankee Doodle")!

Sectionals for Band

Sectionals for band have started.  Students must attend during their LP time (11:40 for grades 5/6 and 11:12 for grades 7/8).

As a reminder, days are:

Grades 5/6 at 11:40
Flutes & Clarinets - Monday
Percussion & Saxophones - Tuesday
Brass - Wednesday

Grade 7/8 at 11:12
Flutes & Clarinets - Monday
Percussion & Saxophones - Tuesday
Brass - Friday

Instrument Rental Forms

Welcome back!  Instrument rental forms will be going out this week for grades 5-8.  Please make sure they are returned with payment by Friday, September 11!  If you have any questions, ask Mr. Witschy or Mr. Sette.  We are looking forward to another great year!

Grade 4 Instrumental Music

Grade 4 instrumental forms are due TODAY.  If you haven't sent yours in, please get it to Mr. Witschy ASAP.  The rental forms will be going out at the end of this week.

Upper School Instrument Rentals

Upper school instrumental rental forms are going home this week.  Please make sure yours is returned no later than Monday, September 9.  The sooner they are returned, the sooner the instruments are ordered.

Practice Charts

Now that instruments have been delivered, we will start practice charts next week.  Look for your student to have them to be completed and signed.  90 Minutes for 7 & 8, 75 Minutes for 5 & 6.

New Year

It's a new year at Rogers, and instrumental music is in full swing.  Make sure all of your instrumental rental forms are in and payment is included!  If you have any questions, contact your music teacher.

Memorial Day Parade

The RIS Band will again be marching in the Memorial Day Parade, on Sunday May 30.  Please meet at noon!  See Mr. Schutzman with any questions! (pschutzman@ci.stamford.ct.us)

Band & Orchestra Concerts

The RIS Band and Orchestra concerts are on June 7 during the day for the student community, and June 10, at 7 PM for parents, family and friends.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Holiday in the Hallway

Make sure to hear the band and orchestra members share some holiday music and cheer in the halls of Rogers International School, starting at 1:30pm, on Tuesday, Dec 22.  Break a leg!

Instrumental Music

Grade 4 students will be meeting with Mr. Schutzman today to learn about opportunities to play in band and orchestra. Make sure to ask your child about it!
